This exhibition shows the design history of the “Ghost Army” in WWII. This nickname was given to several units in the US Military whose primary objective was to decive the Nazi military with theatrical tactics including sound projections, inflatable tanks, and fake encampment scenery. This exhibit displays the military history of these Ghost Army units as well as the work of several members who went on to become established artists and designers after the miitary. Locating these histories in the gallery at Parsons (a school where students were recruited to join the Ghost Army) brings a new perspective to this work in the context of design history.
